Pleasantly surprised
I bought a Kenko teleconverter years ago when I was in Japan, it was 2X, because I wanted the reach. I used on an Olympus 85-250, and no matter what I did, I could never get a clear picture with it. I finally gave up on and took the optics out and used it as an extension tube (it worked great). From then until now, I did not think very highly of Kenko and swore I'd never buy their products again. When I started looking for a teleconverter last year, I found a great review of Canon and Kenko teleconverters (just search for "Überblick Telekonverter) and saw that Kenko had done very well, so I bought the Kenko 1.4x MC4--I received the green dot version if this makes any difference to anyone. I have tested it on a Rebel t1i using the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras. It works great. I have had no problem...

Almost as sharp as the Canon, but serious vignetting on FF
I had used this just a handful of times, and it worked well. All metal construction, nifty little pouch, and nice optics.

Just today I purchased a Canon 300 f4 L lens which also has the Canon 1.4 EF II Converter.

Not needing two, and hopefully going to sell the Canon as I thought they would be similar......I performed a test.

I went out and shot identical images on a tripod. The Kenko, while just about as sharp as the Canon, exhibits quite a bit of vignetting. It is quite evident. Now if you are not shooting on a FF, this may not be an issue. But keep in mind if you are shooting FF, you will see it...

Great product
I have recently purchased this product and I'm very happy with it. I mostly shoot birds, and I got very sharp images, and the autofocus was working great. I used it for my 70-300 lens and got great results. Highly recommended.
