Very handy!
I got this during the Thanksgiving weekend in a B&M store. My 12 year old tripod finally gave and had to get one ASAP. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$$ and this tripod met and exceeded all my expectations. It does say that it has a max loading weight of 4.4lbs, but i still use it with my Nikon D7000 (approx 6 lbs) with no issues whatsoever. Highly recommend for folks on a budget.
good for travelling light
I have used it is during my alaska trip and found it very good with my nikon D7K and 18-200 lens. Very light weight and easy to manage. Like it so far.
Perfect ?
I've had 2 much cheaper tripods in the past, by a lesser brand, and yes they were lighter but the quality & stability was just not good enough for an SLR: ok for compacts and that's it.
Now i have a Nikon D5000 i didn't want to risk losing my gear because of a gush of wind. This one is very well made, seems very sturdy and is super stable.
It's got a single circular bubble that you look at from above and it does the job just fine.
The legs are super easy to move and to extend. Everything has been well thought and well crafted.
The price could be a tad lower but if you spend less you might just end up wasting all of it on something that just won't be good enough. If it's lighter than this then you probably don't want it for an SLR or for anything expensive.
