Great for DSLR with 70-200 2.8 attached
I researched many, many bags before deciding on this one. One of the things I wanted in addition to high quality was not only a zippered flip-top but also a quick release latch. When I am at a horse show and taking my camera in and out, I don't want to mess with a zipper every time! I ordered this bag and the Lowepro Toploader Pro 75W so I could compare. Immediately I could tell the Vanguard was higher quality. It's more substantial all the way around. I will say that I had to order a SECOND Vanguard and return the original bc the first one sat sideways. I couldn't imagine that was the intended design so I ordered another to compare side by side. Indeed, the first one was defective with an off-kilter bottom. The second one sits flat. You need to turn the lens hood around to include it in the bag with the camera and 70-200. High quality DSLR bag
This is my initial impression of the Vanguard Outlawz 16z bag. It definitely feels like a very tough and durable bag that should protect your DSLR and attached lens while carrying it around. This is not a flimsy bag. It is well padded. There is padding all around and on the top cover and bottom part. There are small zippered pouches on the left, right and front of the bag to store other small items like filters, lens caps or cleaning accesories. The left pouch is actually a flip out pouch that can hold a small drink bottle. The top cover has a concealed pull out rain cover as well. As far as holding the camera, I have a Nikon D7000 with a battery grip and 2 lenses I normally use. The Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 and a Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 which is the same size as Sigma's 70-200mm f/2.8. Great Over the Shoulder bag for Mega-Zoom Cameras
This bag works as advertised and is very high quality! The seem to have thought it out very well. For instance it has a carry handle which pushes out of the way so you can access your camera easily through zippers that zip away from your body. Zippers take to long you say, they provide a quick release latch you can use instead. Weather changes, it has a hidden rain cover. The camera is suspended insid e- lens down - so the lens doesn't reach the bottom of the bag. It also included a long shoulder strap and the bottom has an around the thigh strap for sercure carry when the going gets rough. You can also run your waist belt through it and carry without any straps if you choose! You can remove both these straps and attach the optional chest carry, so instead of a backpack, its a frontpack! The only negative, and its a minor one is that it is on the heavy side. All is all I give it two big thumbs up and def buy again! Well done Vanguard!
